I didn't feel any relief after Charles left. He hadn't even made any attempts to physically harm me, but the crazed look in his eyes after he promised to have someone get to Taylor was enough to rob me of any peace of mind.
I tried calling Taylor back, but the number wouldn't get through. I didn't know who else to contact, and it didn't immediately occur to me to contact my father.
