Sarah shook her head and looked at Perseus. She said, "I trust Mr. Caitford. You'd better head back to hone your skills."
"How dare you say that?" Dante's anxiety flared.
For a Balrean, not being validated was a deep fear. It was why they claimed so many of Xancent's traditions as their own. A nation so lacking in culture was truly pitiable.
Shouting, Dante erupted, "How dare you, an ex-convict, dismiss the greatness of Balrean medicine? I will cure Mr. Blackwell!"
Desperation filled his voice as he turned to Jacob. "Mr. Knowles, you've seen my expertise firsthand. I'm an exceptional doctor!"
Perseus, no longer able to restrain himself, let out a chuckle, drawing everyone's attention.
"What are you laughing at?" Dante growled, teeth clenched as he glared at Perseus.
Perseus was clearly mocking him.
