After lunch, the backyard was transformed. It featured a stove with a five-foot-wide iron pot perched on top. Beside it were two wooden tubs.
"Perseus, what on Earth is this for?" Kent asked, even though Wyatt had scolded him repeatedly for questioning Perseus.
The scene was unsettling. It resembled how farmers slaughtered pigs, except for a crucial detail—the pot wasn't filled with water but with a steaming concoction.
"It's not that I doubt you. It's just that this setup with the pot and firewood is rather unnerving," Kent said.
Wyatt glanced at Perseus, mirroring Kent's unspoken question. Despite his vow of unconditional trust, Wyatt couldn't help but wonder. Was Perseus trying to cook Fred?
