Chapter 2203
Perseus and Azrael finally arrived at Goldberry Vale Airport on the evening of the third day.
"What the hell? Is this place a refugee camp?" Azrael exclaimed in surprise as soon as he stepped off the plane.
It was a panorama of decay stretching before their eyes. It had the same crumbling Syrena-style architecture, its walls cracked and its buildings barely standing.
Though the sunset had bathed the locals in its golden light, their faces bore no trace of joy. Their countenances were uniformly mournful, resembling the walking dead. In addition, the streets were filled with those in tattered clothes, with some women nearly bare and teenagers unclothed.
Perseus cast a dismissive glance toward Azrael, remaining silent. Though he had never been one to overflow with sympathy or feel compelled to save others, he was still shocked by the sight before him. It was clear that war never spared the innocent. His thoughts inadvertently drifted to Xancent's past, but he decided against delving
