Chapter 1992
"Let's get out of here." Perseus stood up and dusted his hands.
He felt frustrated.
"If we knew there was nothing here, we wouldn't have needed to come all this way. What a waste of our time and energy. I—"
Perseus paused and smacked his forehead. He took out the letter Wyatt handed him once again. It was a blank sheet of paper.
"He was trying to tell me this trip was going to be all for naught—I just couldn't decipher his message," Perseus concluded.
"Are you referring to my grandfather?" Fred asked, snapping back to his senses.
"Yes."
"Well, why didn't he just say so?" Fred asked again.
"Why don't you ask him yourself?" Perseus rolled his eyes at him and began leading Ramona back the way they came from.
They didn't need to scale any mountains to exit the valley. They just needed to take the scenic route and head straight out. After passing through the farms, they'd reach the nearest town. They would be able to leave town the day after.
