"You should get going too. I'm tired." When Ted didn't object, Claire dismissed him with a wave and proceeded to lie down.
"There's one more thing, Divine Maiden." When Ted got to the door, he suddenly turned back around.
"Are you wondering about the situation at Astral Tower?"
"Yes."
She seemed to have anticipated this question and made no effort to hide the truth. "You're right. We can't control that thing for much longer. If it manages to escape, we'll all die."
"No wonder you were in such a rush to kick them out. Are the rest of us just sitting ducks then?" He shook his head with a bitter smile. He looked somewhat dejected.
"You've lived for long enough. So what if you die? You're a loner—you don't even have a wife or any kids," said Claire.
"Alright. Stop it—I'm leaving."
Ted was speechless. He left the room at the speed of light. Claire's remarks were too heartbreaking.
