Perseus pulled over by the roadside, taking deep breaths in an effort to rein in his simmering anger. Finally, he spoke into the phone, his voice taut with restraint. "You finally called me."
Egbert's voice crackled through the line, sounding eerily familiar yet strangely different. "Is that how you speak to your father now? Has everything I taught you been forgotten?" His tone, once warm and paternal, had turned cold and distant, stripped of any trace of compassion.
