Chapter 8

Celia POV The next morning, when I woke up, Leon was already not in the room. Lazily, I leaned against the bedhead, scrolling through my phone. Suddenly, a message from Alex popped up. "Boss, I found another bracelet that looks very similar to yours! Come to Royal Pack! I have a plan to get us into Lycan King's party today!" It must be the bracelet designed by my mom. Perhaps there would be some clues. I frowned as I immediately got up, washed up, and headed out. Meeting Alex, he quickly briefed me on the situation. "Boss, I've investigated it thoroughly. That bracelet is designed by Crescent. Lycan King bought it when he was abroad." Crescent was my mother's designer name. She was renowned for incorporating elements of herbs and plants into her designs. While everyone claimed my mother was no longer alive, I hadn't found any proof of her death. With no other leads, I decided to start by exploring her works scattered around the world. I was about to enter Royal Pack when I saw Leon's car approaching. "Boss, are you okay? What are you looking at?" Alex asked. I stood still, watching Leon get out of the car and walk into Royal Pack, furrowing my brows. "I saw someone I didn't want to see. Let's go in later." Alex followed my gaze. "Is that Alpha Leon from Black Mist pack? Boss, do you know him?" I put on a disdainful look. "No." Today, Alphas from various wolf packs would come to meet the Lycan King. Having recently returned from his overseas trips, Lycan King organized a gathering at Royal Pack to celebrate. Alex, being the son of Blood Moon's Alpha, swiftly had us admitted. The hall was opulent and luxurious. As soon as we entered, Alex whispered to me, "Boss, follow me." I was puzzled. "Where are you taking me?" Alex raised an eyebrow. "The room behind us is filled with treasures Lycan King brought from abroad. The bracelet should be there." "Are we going to steal it?" Alex nodded. "It's not made of rare gemstones, so it's inconspicuous among the treasures. Let's take it quietly. We shouldn't get caught. Even if we do, Lycan King won't bother about a worthless bracelet with so many guests at the party. I can say that my father asked me to buy this bracelet." "That makes sense." "Let's go." I turned around and immediately spotted the familiar figure. Though he stood in the crowd, I recognized him instantly. Leon was smoking a cigar, engaged in conversation with a group of people. He stood out in the crowd, handsome and imposing. I hunched over, sneaking into the room behind Alex. Countless treasures dazzled my eyes, momentarily captivating me. Alex's voice snapped me back to reality. "Boss, hurry, find it! It should be somewhere around here!" I snapped back, quickly searching through drawers and checking every inconspicuous corner. Suddenly, footsteps approached from outside. Alex signaled me to hush and pulled me behind a cabinet. Sweat trickled down my forehead as I pressed against the wall. The next moment, the room lit up. The sudden brightness made me instinctively close my eyes. Then, a familiar voice reached my ears. "Your Majesty, thank you. My grandfather has been searching for this sculpture worldwide for many years." It was Leon's voice. My heart skipped a beat, suppressing the panic, my fists clenched. "No worries. Your grandfather called me earlier. I've had it packed for you." The deep voice must be Lycan King's. "Thank you, Your Majesty." The door swung open. I felt like my heart was about to leap out of my chest. "Leon, there are many treasures I've collected from around the world here. You can take a look and pick one or two you like." The sound of shoe soles tapping on the floor approached, getting closer and closer. I bit my lip, involuntarily holding my breath. The cabinet vibrated. Leon took something from the cabinet. "Your Majesty, this bracelet is beautiful. I remember it's Crescent's work." Lycan King laughed, "If you like it, just take it. I didn't expect you to be interested in this." The bracelet was right there on the cabinet! Damn! Why didn't I notice it earlier? However, I fell into contemplation. My mother designed it under the name "Crescent" in her spare time. Although she was famous, she wasn't a mainstream designer, and her works were relatively niche. Why would Leon be interested in her work? Did he have a connection with my mother, or did he know her personally? Suddenly, the lights went out, shrouding the room in darkness and silence. Their footsteps faded as they left the room. Alex finally breathed a sigh of relief, pushing me out from behind the cabinet. "Damn! Alpha Leon took the bracelet! What do we do now? Should I figure out a way to steal it from him later?" "No need. I'll figure something out." As we spoke, we headed towards the bustling noise of the hall. Alex looked at me, asking, "Boss, how do you know Alpha Leon? Why are you avoiding him?" I maintained a stern expression. "It's nothing. A few days ago, I agreed to become his Luna." Alex, taking a sip of champagne, sprayed it out. "Wait... What?" I explained the situation to Alex. He went from surprise to curiosity, saying, "Boss, I heard mature older men are good at taking care of women." I shot him a glare. "Watch your words." Alex quickly covered his head and rushed outside. "Sorry! I'm going to the bathroom, and I'll be back soon!" I walked to the other side to eat some fruit, waiting for Alex to return. Suddenly, a chill ran down my spine. I turned around to see Leon, hands in his pockets, standing behind me, staring at me. How did he come to me? Leon walked slowly towards me, towering over, his gaze deep and filled with suspicion. "What are you doing here?" I swallowed nervously, desperately thinking of how to explain. At that moment, Alex walked over, seemingly not noticing Leon. He complained, "Boss, the more I think about it, the angrier I get! Alpha Leon is really annoying..." Suddenly, Alex's voice stopped abruptly. He saw Leon standing in front of me and noticed my frantic eye signals urging him not to continue. I covered my forehead, sighing. Leon tilted his head, looking at Alex, then at me, narrowing his eyes. "Does he call you 'Boss'?"
