Coming to terms with the fact that Robert was not my father was an easy feat. I would rather have had no memory of him at all. I’d have preferred to fantasize about my original family, about the happier memories I would have had if Robert hadn't been in their lives. Were they still alive? If they were, did they try to search for me?
Did I have siblings?
I hoped to the moon goddess that no harm came to them. I eyed him warily, watching a smirk of satisfaction play on his face.
"I know you have questions," he taunted. "I don't mind providing answers. Though my answers might be limited."
"What happened to them? My parents?" I asked, hope evident in my voice. I needed to know the truth, as painful as it might be. When all this was over, I would go find them.
His deliberate pause before answering my question unsettled me. It was as if he savored every bit of my pain and curiosity. His eyes held a sinister glint, and I felt a chill running down my spine.
Robert leaned back again
