Chapter 6

When they were about to leave the hotel after dinner. Siya suddenly noticed something. "Is that the cause of your desperation? She looked at Alice as her eyes drifted away again. Alice was confused and followed the sight of Siya. Her breath stopped when her eyes caught a familiar figure walking towards the car with a gorgeous figure in his arms. Lucas and Milla. Alice quickly rolled her eyes. "Let's go" and got into the car. Siya was very furious and slammed the car door behind her. "Just leave him. Why are you killing yourself?" she yelled at Alice as she took her seat. Alice wiped away her tears. "You obviously know I can't do it," Alice sobbed. "You can do it. You have to do it yourself" Siya knows how hard Alice's life was and the circumstances under which she married Lucas. Alice was devastated and cried. "I can't do it. Leaving him, where will I go? I don't have anyone. He is the reason I get up in the morning and go home at night" Siya was scared to see Alice's madness. "I'm here for you, you're killing yourself. You also need someone who can respect you, love you, and take good care of you. You also know very well that this relationship has no future. If you abandon it today, tomorrow will be easy for you, otherwise, it will hurt more tomorrow. Before he abandons you, you have to end this relationship so You won't regret it. Now, you have a clear reason for divorce " Siya encouraged her to leave Lucas. Alice was scared to leave Lucas's side because she didn't have anyone else in her life. Her mother died when she was young and then her father remarried. Her stepmother always used to torture her. She grew up without the love and care which now she desperately needed but she will never get from Lucas. Her father was the only person who loved her, but since he also died two years ago, she is alone. She has nowhere to go. Siya tried her best to persuade Alice to go out with her, but Alice refused, insisting on staying home. Siya dropped Alice and left. Alice was certain that Lucas would not be returning home that day, and she needed some time to be alone with her thoughts. However, when she entered the house, she was surprised to find Lucas sitting in the living room, talking on the phone. He abruptly ended the call and stood up as soon as he saw Alice. "Where have you been?" he asked in a cold voice, as expected. "I was with my friend," Alice replied in a quiet voice and started to head upstairs. "Friend? Male or female?" Alice stopped in her tracks and turned around in surprise. "Why does it matter? It's my personal choice who I choose to be friends with," she said, feeling defensive. Lucas's expression turned dark as he moved closer to Alice. "Yes, it does matter," he said, reaching out to lift her chin with his fingers. Alice trembled at the sight of his furious eyes. "You are my wife, and I don't like other men touching what is mine." He was completely different from other days. She had never seen him this angry before, and she couldn't understand why he was so upset. "What are you talking about? It's my decision who can touch me or not. Where is this coming from?" Alice couldn't help but ask, her voice laced with bitterness. Lucas's eyebrows furrowed in anger. Alice noticed that his chest was heaving, and he tightened his grip on her face. Her heart raced as she looked into his unyielding gaze. Without taking his eyes off her, Lucas opened his phone and held it up to Alice's face. She was confused and looked at the screen to see a photo of herself with one of Siya's male friends. They had been sitting together at dinner, talking and laughing. It was clear that Lucas had seen her at the dinner. "What does this mean?" Alice asked. "You tell me what it means," Lucas retorted. Alice gasped in anger and pushed his hand away, stepping back slightly. "We were just having dinner, and there were other friends there too," she said. She had never questioned him about his own affairs, but he was angry just because she had gone out with her friends. Lucas closed his eyes as if he were trying to control his irritation. "I don't care how many people were there. The question is simple: why were you with a man?" Alice looked at him in annoyance. Her hands clenched into fists. "I already told you I was there with my friend Siya. He is her colleague and we were just talking that's it" She really didn't understand why he was behaving like this. Lucas gritted his teeth but didn't say anything. Alice stared at the man for a moment before she turned around and walked up the stairs. As she ascended, she felt his presence following her, causing her to frown. However, he did not enter her room and instead went on his own. Alice exhaled as she closed her door, which she realized she had been holding onto. She tossed her bag onto the bed and headed to the bathroom. Her heart was heavy, and she only wanted to escape and cry out all her emotions. However, she did not know where to go, so she wept silently in the bathroom. When she grew tired of crying, she wrapped herself in towels and left the bathroom. However, her peace was only for a moment, Alice spotted Lucas lying on the bed, her body quivering, as if she had been jolted by an electric current. His eyes were closed. She sat down on the edge of the bed and stared at the sleeping man's face. Why was he here? She could not understand this man. Moments ago, he had been furious with her, but now he was sleeping in her bed. Why did he come to her every day? After pondering for a while, Alice decided to lie down, but as soon as she did, she was enveloped in large arms. She gasped in shock, she had thought he had already fallen asleep. Lucas pulled her against his body, and Alice's back was pressed against him. She could feel a burning sensation emanating from his body, but he did not move any further. Instead, he held her tightly against his body, with his face buried in her neck. Alice felt suffocated, not because she despised his touch, but because of her feelings. It hurts the most when you are going through something that's killing you inside and you have to act like it doesn't affect you at all. "Tomorrow I'm leaving for a business trip" Lucas suddenly whispered in her ear. Alice was momentarily stunned because this was the first time he had mentioned he was going somewhere. "When will you be back?" she asked. He shifted slightly against her neck before replying, "In three days." Alice did not know why, but she felt warmth in her heart. She couldn't help but begin to believe that he was changing and beginning to care for her. Time passed, and sleep eluded her eyes, but she could feel his calm breaths. She did not know when she had fallen asleep
