The party came to an untimely end when Elijah returned with Amara in his arms. The moment Elvis learnt of the injury in her leg, he became frantic, ordering for the guests to leave, and for a doctor to be called.
It was a flurry of activity that ended with Amara tucked tightly into her bed, an IV bag- which she had insisted against- and a tray of food at her side.
Sitting beside her in a chair was Melanie. She was worried, but not as much as Elvis.
“Feeling better.” She inquired for the hundredth time and Amara rolled her eyes.
“You’re all overreacting. It’s just a sprain in my ankle.”
Melanie frowned. “Even so, you shouldn’t treat it like it’s not important. You should treat yourself better you know.” She muttered the last part and Amara sighed.
She knew Melanie was right. In fact, her grandfather’s over reaction wouldn’t have been seen as an over reaction in the past. Them doting on her and treating her like a porcelain doll had been a normal thing before she left to marry Tobias.
