Amara froze when Elijah asked her that question. It took an amount of willpower that she did not know she possessed, to stop her eyes from going as wide as saucers.
“Excuse me?”
Elijah smiled, but Amara was certain it was not his usual go to smile. She could tell, and for some reason, that made her all the more aware of his question, all the more nervous.
What the fuck did he mean with that question? He couldn’t possibly know who she really was, now could he?
The woman was tempted to gulp, but she managed to keep herself from doing so. She wanted to look composed, unaffected, as though his words meant nothing to her.
