Jake walked into the police station, grumbling incoherent words underneath his breath.
In the back of his mind, his conversation with Amara was still playing.
“You’ve disappointed and failed me once and that’s more than enough for you to lose any and every reputation you have with that little job of yours.”
Jake winced at the memory alone. Those were some powerful words, and although they had been spoken calmly, Jake had heard the fire in those brown words and knew fully well, Amara had been more than serious.
So, for the sake of his job and reputation, which he was currently being threatened with, Jake had listened.
“Aaron Duvbyk got out of police custody. He was arrested after to failed in doing your job and he kidnapped me and you later proceeded to desert me. A very funny experience. I’m sure your future employers would love to hear all about it.”
