A heavy silence descended over the room as Tobias’s words registered in her mind.
“That’s not funny.” She said at last, shaking her head and taking a step back, away from him.
“It’s not a joke,” He said, approaching her as she walked away. “His father, the former CEO of Sattar industries, he was involved in the accident. The was close friends with the person who had hit your parents car and he had paid off the judge to give the man a lighter sentence.”
“Come off it, Tobias.” Amara said, stopping in her tracks and turning around to face him.
She shook her head and glared. “This isn’t funny. I mean it, stop joking or better yet, if this is an act of yours to discredit Elijah in my eyes, then I suggest you leave, because it’s not working.”
Tobias frowned. He approached her and stopped right in front of her, staring down at her, seriously.
“I’m not joking, Mara.” He brought out his phone once again and unlocked it. Quickly accessing the file Helios had sent him, he showed her the evidence.
