Doing The Right Thing.
Amara woke up the next morning to an empty room, but the aromatic scent of coffee was wafting in the air and the sound of sizzling meat was in the air.
The smell of bacon.
For a few seconds, she had thought Aaron was the one cooking, and she had panicked, sitting up straight and looking around like a crazy woman, but then she recognized the familiar room she had slept in the night before and everything came rushing back.
Right, she was in Tobias’s house.
The smell of food wasn’t from Aaron, but rather, from Tobias.
She didn’t know why, but that knowledge caused her heart to skip a beat. Perhaps it was because she was glad that chapter of nightmare had finally ended.
With a sigh, she pushed the blankets away and got out of the bed. Her legs wobbled a little, but she regained her balance.
She took her time and slowly made her way to the door, heading for the bathroom and freshening up.
