Anger and disbelief, those were the two logical emotion one was meant to feel after hearing something as…ridiculous as the words that had just left Tobias’s mouth.
But Amara felt none of that. In fact, she felt nothing. Even seconds after he had spoken, she continued to stare speechless, unable to move, barely able to think and her brain had simply stopped functioning properly.
Her mind was a blank canvas, a canvas that was waiting for color, for something, anything, a sign, a word, an action, a reaction, a thought or feeling. Something that would trigger the gears and help her process the words, and more importantly, understand the words, because they were too hard and confusing to comprehend.
