The next time Amara emerged, she found Elijah standing in the pathway leading to the bedroom, figure slightly turned away from her.

“Did grandpa call?” Was her unsuspecting question as she advanced towards him.
Elijah, looking up and away from her phone, fixed her with a blank expression for a few seconds before nodding. “He wanted to find if I had any allergies.”
As easily as the lie had popped into his head, it had rolled off his tongue. But Amara knew nothing of this, rather, she thought it out to be a completely normal behavior of her grandfather, seeing how the man had taken great liking to Elijah.
“Do you?” She asked as she approached him, receiving her phone when it was given.
With the same innocent smile as before, Elijah shook his head. “Not at all.”
Amara nodded, turning her attention towards the meal that smelt just about done. “Ready?”
