Lily had a bad feeling about this. She pressed her lips tightly together and frowned.
"Please have a seat while you wait. We'll definitely discuss the divorce today," Xavier said, gesturing toward the orange couch at the center of his office.
Upon receiving his reassurance, Lily turned around and took a seat. She was curious to see what Xavier was up to this time.
Time passed by slowly. Timothy brought in a cup of coffee for her before quietly leaving the room.
The silence in Xavier's office was so profound that even the faintest sound felt amplified in the open space.
Lily started to grow uneasy once again. She could almost hear the pounding of her heartbeat grow stronger with each passing moment.
Across the room, Xavier seemed to be completely unfazed. He held a cigarette between his slender fingers and casually took a drag. Then, he gently puffed out the smoke, letting wisps of smoke curl into the air.
