Chapter 289
Over the weekend, Lily took a day off. She visited Hayden at the hospital and ran into Rowan.
Rowan said, "The patient's condition is quite stable now. Whether he pulls through depends on this final attempt."
"How do we do it?" she asked in return.
"Stimulate him and see if he can pull himself out of his emotional state. If he can, he wins. But if not..." He sighed. "It's over."
Her heart tightened as she looked at Hayden in the ward.
Through the window, she saw him, bathed in the morning sunlight. He was sitting on the hospital bed in a thin fleece pajama, his short hair grown out a little, and his skin pale with a sickly hue.
Though he wasn't fully back to his old self, she could still spot some traces of the sunny young man he used to be.
"Are you betting on it?" Rowan glanced in the direction of her gaze. Hayden was a bright and cheerful young man, so it was heartbreaking to see him like this.
