Edith scolded Xavier a couple more times, but he remained indifferent.
"Forget it. It's more effective to urge your dad to have a second child than to push you to have one."
Xavier was dumbfounded.
After a while, lunch was served. At the dining table, Lily ate quietly, sensing Xavier's occasional gaze on her. She wasn't sure what Edith had said to him, but his stare made her feel strangely guilty.
When Lily finally finished her meal, she helped Edith back to her room for her afternoon nap and then went upstairs to her bedroom.
She thought Xavier had gone to the company, but to her surprise, he was already in her room. The midday sun shone brightly, casting a soft glow on his shirt, making him look warm and lazy.
