When Eva learned that Shannon was the reason she couldn't go on the study tour, her first reaction was to think that George was playing favorites. Linda felt her head throb from all the commotion. She felt a little resentful toward Shannon. It wasn't that she blamed Shannon for saying there was potential danger during the study tour. Rather, she felt that the capable Shannon could surely do something to ward off the disaster. Instead, Shannon chose to stop the children from going on the tour just to avoid the disaster.
