Gerald walked over and pulled Hazel into a tight embrace. His voice was hoarse as he said, "I'm so sorry, Hazel. I've been so wrapped up in other things that I completely failed to notice your emotions. Please don't leave me, okay?"
His voice trembled as he held her closer. "I've already lost Maggie. I can't lose you too, Hazel."
