Chapter 9 He Lost His Sense of Taste

Tamara shook her head and signed, “Let me have a look at them. If they were made around the same time period, I can mix them without having to taste them.” Margot had no choice but to relent. “Alright.” Margot was the owner of 1999, while Tamara was the best mixologist there. The reason why 1999 was such a hot spot was mainly due to Tamara. She was sensitive to alcohol and could taste the finest differences between each bottle. With her skills, she could make a very fine drink by mixing different types of alcohol. The two left the lobby just as a black Rolls-Royce Phantom was rolling in. A tall man came out of the car. He was wearing a tailored silver-gray suit and looked ravishing. He was on a call. “Mr. Lynch, I heard that 1999’s mixologist is back. She has a good tongue. Didn’t you lose your sense of taste? Let her mix a drink for you. Maybe you’ll recover,” mocked Benjamin Inkling. Sebastian huffed. “A good tongue? How would you know? Have you put her service to the test?” “Fuck off!” Benjamin continued, “I want to try her work, but she never shows herself.” This sparked Sebastian’s curiosity. What a mysterious mixologist. “Well, I really want to see who this mysterious mixologist is,” Sebastian said calmly as he smirked devilishly. Down in the wine cellar, the place was filled to the brim with different alcohols. Almost every single type of alcoholic drink could be found down here. “Here they are. Since they’re new, I didn’t want them to collect dust down here. That’s why I called you over. I would have never thought that you’d gotten pregnant,” said Margot as she pointed at the few bottles on the table. Tamara smiled. “I’ll just have a little taste. I’ll be fine.” Margot nodded hesitantly. Just then, her phone rang. “Hello?” “Boss, Mr. Inkling is here and requested for you.” Margot’s face fell. “Again? Alright, I’ll head over there now.” When she met Tamara’s worried gaze, Margot patted her hand softly. “That shameless Mr. Inkling is here again. I’ll go and meet him. You stay here and have a look around.” Tamara nodded and watched as Margot left. She pulled out a chair and sat down. Just when she was about to open a bottle, a waiter hurried over and said, “Tammy, bad news! The boss is in trouble!” Tamara sprung up and signed, “What happened?” Every waiter at 1999 could understand sign language. The waiter immediately replied, “Boss was on her way to meet Mr. Inkling when she was stopped by a man in the lift. The man is a new customer. He thinks the boss is someone he can hit on and is refusing to let the boss go. Come have a look, Tammy.” The waiter rushed out without waiting for a reply. Tamara was worried about Margot and hurriedly followed. However, just as she left the wine cellar, suspicion rose within her. The security in 1999 was good. Even if something bad had happened, why would anyone come to her for help? The employees in 1999 all knew she was mute and was only in charge of mixing drinks. Even if things had gone wrong, they wouldn’t come looking for her. After all, she would be of no use. Not everyone understood sign language. When she came back from her thoughts, the waiter was nowhere to be found. This only fueled her suspicions. Taking out her phone, Tamara tapped into 1999’s security cameras. She flipped through the different channels trying to find Margot. Soon, she saw Margot outside a private lounge. It was the best private lounge they had—Benjamin Inkling’s. Her hunch was right! Something was up with the waiter! She had to inform Margot. Tamara took the lift and arrived at the lounge. She held up her hand and was about to knock. “Why are you here?” All of a sudden, a low voice sounded from behind her. Tamara froze and quickly spun around. She saw Sebastian walking in her direction. Panic flashed across her eyes. Why was Sebastian here? Sebastian narrowed his eyes and sneered, “Ms. Simmons, weren’t you the one who said earlier that we shouldn’t bother each other for the next 10 months? Are you going against your promise now?” Tamara flushed red. She held her hands up to sign, but upon remembering Sebastian’s lack of understanding in sign language, she deflated and took out her phone in defeat. “I didn’t follow you here. I’m here for a friend.” Sebastian cocked his eyebrow as he stalked closer to her. His eyes were cold, and he looked as if he could see her every thought. “What a nice excuse. So, where’s this friend of yours? Tamara, if I don’t see your friend, that means you’re lying. You pulled all those dirty tricks to seduce me and get yourself pregnant. You’re already Mrs. Lynch, but do you still crave more? You disgust me!”
