It was too ruthless.
"Aren't you worried Victoria might not realize what's going on?" Aaron finally worked up the nerve to gossip. "She and Jeremiah are still pretty close."
Leon didn't answer. He knew Victoria better than anyone.
If someone confessed to her and she couldn't return their feelings, she'd cut them off completely. She believed that failing to reciprocate someone's emotions was a debt she couldn't repay. She'd rather sever the connection entirely to avoid giving false hope.
Jeremiah, having grown up with her, knew this too. That was exactly why Jeremiah had never confessed.
"I'll brief the manager," Aaron said, suddenly energized. He had completely forgotten the resolution he had made in the car. "I'll update you once everything's set."
"No need," Leon said.
Aaron frowned. "Why?"
Leon stepped out of the car. "I'm coming with you."
