Despite her feelings, Sabrina remained resolute.
Dinner that evening was notably quieter than usual. Words were exchanged, but they were soft echoes rather than the dinner's normal hum of life.
Everyone knew the reason for the quiet. It was Ada's unsettling presence. Ada's behavior had been increasingly suspicious, so everyone tried to act subdued around her. The atmosphere was not exactly chilly, but it was far colder than usual.
After finishing dinner, Ada was visibly uncomfortable with the silence and volunteered to leave. As soon as she was gone, Victor and Marcus let out a sigh of relief and slumped into the sofa.
"Get up, what's gotten into you?" Curtis eyed the two men, who had ungracefully thrown themselves onto the couch, and gave each of them a firm kick.
Victor and Marcus looked up, visibly annoyed at Curtis. "That's a bit much, don't you think? After the evening we've endured?"
