CHAPTER 28 INSEPRATABLE

"We're going to make it!" Michael shouted, his voice filled with determination. "Just hold on!" The cliff loomed closer, its jagged rocks and sheer drops a terrifying sight. But Michael refused to slow down, the car hurtling along the ledge as though it were a race track. Just as Madison thought all was lost, they rounded a corner and the road widened, the cliff receding into the distance. The car roared back onto the road, the engine straining as Michael pushed it harder, faster, away from the danger. As the car sped away from the cliff, Madison turned to look behind them, her breath still coming in ragged gasps. But to her surprise, there was no sign of the black van, no indication that they had ever been there at all. "They're gone," she whispered, her voice shaking. "How is that possible?"
