Chapter 7

That night, the system made an appearance after a long bout of radio silence. "You have three days before departing this world, Sabrina. Please prepare yourself." Sabrina nodded. "Got it." She looked out at the moon and watched as the dark clouds slowly concealed it. Soon, she would be free of this world. She wouldn't need to see Jordan and Ansel anymore. Her lips curled upward in a small smile at the thought of that. Three days before leaving the mission world, Sabrina destroyed all traces of her existence. She'd spent a decade in this world; she managed to fill several boxes with everything and anything that had to do with her. The first thing she put in the box was a quiz she'd taken in her high school literature class. It wasn't anything special, but Jordan had written something on it. "Jordan Faust only loves Sabrina York." The second thing she put in was the diamond ring Jordan had put on her finger the day he'd proposed. She would never forget the look on his face when he'd done it. He was an elite businessman, yet he'd cried with his face buried in the crook of her neck. He'd repeated, "You're finally mine, Rina!" Everything she put into the boxes was treasures she'd kept safe in hopes that she could tell her and Jordan's descendants about the stories behind them when they were older. It looked like there wasn't any need for that anymore. Sabrina started a huge bonfire in the garden and burned the boxes to ashes. As the flames grew taller, she turned and walked away without another look back. … Two days before leaving the mission world, Sabrina saved and copied all the photos, videos, and phone call recordings Holly had sent her into a USB drive. Then, she took a cab to the management office of the city's electronic billboards. She handed the USB drive to an employee. "Could I trouble you with playing the contents of this USB drive on all of the city's billboards? I want it to be on repeat." The employee glanced through the contents, looking stunned. They stammered, "A-Are you sure about this, Ms. York?" Sabrina looked calm. "I'm positive. When the video starts playing, please also add a caption that says, 'Sabrina York wishes Jordan Faust, Ansel Faust, and Holly Rivers all the happiness in the world. May they be together forever.'" … Sabrina and Jordan's fifth wedding anniversary fell on the day before her departure from the mission world. Five years ago, he'd gotten down on one knee on the rooftop of a faculty building to propose. Drones had filled the sky, forming images of people proposing. It had been such a grand affair that it had made the trending topics. That day, they'd made a pact to always celebrate their wedding anniversary there. Sure enough, as soon as Sabrina headed downstairs, she saw that Jordan hadn't gone to work. Ansel was home, too. They sat on the couch and waited for her with gentle smiles. She looked at them without saying a word. After breakfast, they left the house together. It was the summer break, so they were the only people on campus. Jordan held her with his left hand and Ansel with his right. They looked like such a sweet and loving family that anyone would be envious at the sight. "Mom, Dad, tell me your story," Ansel said. Jordan smiled fondly at that. He was about to speak when a phone's ringtone shattered the serenity. Sabrina didn't need to look at the caller ID to know who it was. Firstly, the ringtone was one Jordan had set just for Holly. Secondly, Holly had texted her earlier that morning, saying, "So what if it's your wedding anniversary? Trust me when I say I can make them leave you to come to my side with a single phone call." Sabrina had merely chuckled at the message. Then, she'd taken a screenshot of it and sent it to the employee at the billboard company. "Please add this to the USB drive's contents."
