Chapter 15
He was sleeping with a fever, what was the worst that could happen? She put the chicken noodle soup in the cupboard, rolled up her sleeves and went to work in the kitchen.
After a while, she cooked a small pot of vegetable porridge with the few ingredients she could find in the refrigerator, she put some salt in it for flavor. She found a thermos and she poured the soup in it, she then placed it on the counter next to the medicine. She washed her hands and finally left.
When she came out, Tobias only had a pair of boxers on him and an unbuttoned shirt. He must have felt too hot and decided to take off his clothes in his sleep
He was laying on his back properly this time, his well-sculpted abs were unreservedly exposed.
Wendy was stunned to see his amazing body, but she knew this wasn't a good thing. She found a thick woolen coat in the closet and she draped it over him.
Tobias suddenly frowned and rolled over, the woolen coat wasn't covering his body anymore. She wanted to fix it up, but his whole body was laying on the coat, she knew he'll wake up if she tried to pull it out from under him.
Wendy felt helpless, she bit her lip, and finally decided to leave him alone. She left a small note for him, she took her bag and left his office. She carefully closed the door on her way out.
The door closed, the man who should have been sleeping opened his eyes.
After a few minutes, Joe called, Tobias was standing silently in front of the big mirror in his office.
Joe received a call from Grandma Lu saying that his grandson was very ill, and she asked him to quickly find a way to get an assistant to send some medicine to the office.
He was wondering on whether to call Wendy or not. He remembers that she was with Tobias before he left, but with his shameless infatuation, he decided not to call her.
He dutifully called the president instead.
There was a slight irritation in his voice as he answered the phone, "Say it quick!"
Joe swallowed his fear as he asked, "Can I ask you something?"
Joe's head was spinning at the time. He thought that he was angry because Wendy left the office and didn't take care of him. He didn't want to tell him to take medicine. He hastily asked, "My gym card is about to expire, can you help me renew it, please? I don't have a good connection here."
He was too scared to deliver Grandma Lu's wishes. They have been classmates for years, he would definitely do a small favor for him.
Tobias sneered, "Joe, you are shameless. Are you doing well in Malaysia?"
Joe said, "It's been amazing thanks to you. There are so many beautiful women here."
"You're there on a business trip. Behave yourself," Tobias said expressionlessly and he immediately hung up the phone. He stood still in front of the mirror. He was thinking deeply as he stared at his own figure.
Joe was frightened with his last sentence, he wanted to reassure him, but he had already hung up the phone.
He scratched his head in frustration. He thought that fate was treating him unfairly.
Grandma Lu called him again, "Joe, did you ask an assistant to buy him some medicine?"
"He doesn't need it," Joe muttered softly.
Tobias needed something other than cold medicine.
"What are you talking about?" Grandma Lu didn't hear him clearly.
"I said he's fine. Don't worry about him, old lady Lu."
"Who are you calling old? Your entire family is older than me!" Grandma Lu hung up after angrily when she heard how he addressed him.
Joe was about to collapse, the Lu family is really hard to satisfy. Before he fell asleep, Tobias called again.
On the phone, he asked nonchalantly, "Why would a woman not stare at a well-toned body?"
Joe felt his heart and mind going haywire. He took a deep breath to calm himself down and he said, "She probably doesn't like him."
Then in an instant, he felt the Siberian north winds in his ear.
"Your gym card password," he heard the president's gritted teeth.
"Eight, eight, five, eight," Joe stiffly answered.
In the bedroom of the villa, Wendy couldn't get any sleep.
She decided to get up and make a recording of the report. By the time she was done it was already two o'clock in the morning.
After that, she slept like a baby until she fought with her alarm clock in the morning.
She went to work in the morning, before reporting to the financial department she first went to the sixty-sixth floor to drop off her recording. She passed by an office and she heard a man wailing from the inside, "Who the fuck stole my chicken soup?"
She paused for a second, she then walked away from the scene of the crime.
She walked over to the president's office and she knocked on the door. An old lady came out with a gentle smile on her face.
"Do you need something with Tobias?" The old lady said with a proud tone, she then remembered that she was in his office, so she added, "Oh, wait, you work here. Come in."
Wendy was taken aback. She didn't expect an old lady to be in the president's office. When she entered, she was a bit worried she was interrupting something between them.
"It's okay, I'm just making breakfast, and he's just working. Don't worry about me." Grandma Lu saw the concerned look in her eyes and she stretched out her hand to pull her in.
