Chapter 152

Zachary suddenly woke up and gave me a huge fright. I forced a grin and retracted my gaze while trying to explain myself, "I could not sleep after waking up. The sun will be up soon. I am going downstairs to prepare breakfast." I hastily got out of bed and left the room. When I was downstairs, I kept on patting my burning cheeks and reminded myself to sleep on the sofa tonight instead of returning to the room. I sat on the sofa for an hour before entering the kitchen. I was not good at cooking and so I had only prepared a pot of porridge. After finishing my bowl of porridge, I sat on the sofa in a daze. Zachary came downstairs dressed in an entirely black suit again. He did not leave the house in the morning and had spent his time on the sofa, reading. At midday, he went to the kitchen to prepare lunch. The maid did not turn up that day and I got a share in Zachary's lunch. Subsequently, for the whole afternoon, Zachary remained in the study.
