Chapter 179
Giovanni's Perspective
I couldn't take my eyes off her. Even in death, her beauty remained, untouched by the cold breath of the end.
Her breathing had ceased, her heartbeat long gone, and those eyes that once sparkled with defiance and tenderness were now closed tightly, like stars that had never truly shone.
Oliver gently lifted her as though she were merely asleep, but I knew this time she would never wake.
In that moment, my world lost all its light.
"Take her." My voice came out hoarse, barely audible. It was my final request to Oliver, the last thing I could do for her.
I could no longer bear to watch, to see her drift farther away into a distance I could never reach.
Oliver said nothing. His silence was heavy with sorrow.
He turned, carrying her, step by slow step. His figure blurred as he moved, and her form grew smaller and smaller until, finally, she vanished from my sight. In that instant, my heart shattered completely.
A suffocating agony crashed over me.
