Chapter 7 Chapter 7

"Come on dammit, start!" I shouted, hitting my hand on the steering wheel in frustration. I turned the key in the ignition again. It still didn't start. I sighed loudly. It was Tuesday the following week and I was heading to school, only to find out that the car won't start. Mom had already left with Tamara, so it look like I had to take the bus this morning. I took up my bag pack from the passenger seat and got out of my car dejectedly. I walked to the bus stop to wait on the bus. The bus came and I was finally at school. I went to my locker and exchanged book and went to my class. I have French right now with my best friends. When I got to class, I saw Amber there who saved a seat for me. I went over to where she was and sat down. "Hey." I greeted and she greeted me back. "Where is Dylan?" "I don't know. I haven't seen him all morning." Amber replied. "I'm going to call him." I took out my phone and dialed Dylan's number. He answered on the third ring. "Hey Jessie." He answered. "Dylan, where are you?" I asked. "My mom accidentally cut her hand this morning. I'm at the hospital. She had to get a few stitches." He said. "My God! Is she alright?" I asked worriedly. Amber looked at me becoming alert. "She's fine. It wasn't deep." He explained. "Thank God for that." "Yeah." "Okay then, bye. See you later." I hang up the call and turned to Amber. "What's wrong?" Amber asked. "Dylan's mom cut her hand and had to get stitches. He won't be coming to school." I explained. "Oh dear." "She's okay though." I took out my books, pen and pencil for class. "So I guess he won't get to see me practice this afternoon." Amber looked at me apologetically, "About that, I can't come either. I'm sorry. My mom is working late and asked me to pick up Ashley from school." Ashley was Amber little sister and she was five years old. She was the sweetest thing. "That's okay, Amber. You can come another time." I said. "Okay." The teacher came soon after and class began. School had ended and I head to the dance room to practice. As soon as I entered the room, I turned on the radio and began practicing. Ten minutes into practise, I heard the door being opened. I turned around to see Ethan entering the room. "What are you doing in here?" I demanded, as I turned down the radio. "I came to see you practice." He answered simply, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "No. I don't want you in here." I replied crossing my arms. "Why? I just want to watch." He persisted. "Why?! Ethan, I know you. You are just going to annoy me with one of your cryptic comments or your sexual innuendoes." "I'll be quiet. I promise." I looked at him for a few minutes then sigh. "Fine, you can stay. But if I hear one word out of you, you're leaving." I threaten and he made a gesture of zipping up his mouth with his hand. Shaking my head, I went back over to the radio to turn it back up and Ethan sat on the bench that was in the corner of the room. Another twenty minutes later, I finish practising. I took out my CD from the radio and turned it off. I turned around to the bench and saw that Ethan was still sitting there. He was quiet the whole time and he didn't distract me. I walked over to the bench and took up my bag, "Shows over. You can go home now." "Yeah and what a good show it was." He wiggled his eyebrows and stood up. I shook my head and walk to the door, Ethan following behind me. After we exit the room, I closed the door with the key. I turned in the direction of the locker rooms to have a shower and Ethan turned in the other direction. After my shower, I put on my clothes and head for the main doors. As soon as I stepped outside, I saw Ethan leaning up against his motorcycle. "What are you still doing here?" I asked. "Waiting for you." He responded. "Why would you do that?" "I noticed you didn't drive today. So I was waiting to give you a ride home." He explained. "No thank you. I'm good. I will take the bus." I said as I turned away from him. "Come on, Jessica. I'm already here and I have a ride, so why take the bus?" He asked. "I'm not really a fan of motorcycles." I explained truthfully. "It's not as bad as it looks." He tried to convince me. "Are you kidding me? That's a death trap and I'm not ready to die." I shook my head vehemently. "I'll go slow. Nothing is going to happen to you. I promise." He held his hand out to me. I tilt my head to one side and looked at the motorcycle and then back at him. I looked into his eyes and for some insane reason, I believed him. I sighed, "Okay fine." "Great. Tell me your address." He said and I told him. He hopped on his motorcycle and patted the seat behind him. "Hop on." He smirked mischievously. What was I getting myself into? I walked over to the motorcycle and swung my legs over the seat behind him. He started the death trap and handed me his helmet. I took it from him and put it on. "Put your hands around my waist." He instructed. I did as I was told and he drove off from the parking lot instantly. I tightened my arms around his waist, hanging on for dear life. As soon as he was on the highway, Ethan cut his speed. To be honest, I was surprised he stuck to his words as I knew this wasn't his usual speed. My surroundings past in a blur and soon Ethan pulled into my driveway. I couldn't have been more thankful, although, if I was honest, it wasn't that bad. As soon as Ethan cut the engine, I hopped off. "Well, thanks for the ride." I said adjusting my bag on my shoulders. "Don't mention it." He winked at me before he put on his helmet on his head. "See you at school, Red." He saluted me, then turned from my driveway and he sped off. Shaking my head, I turned and went into my house. "Who was that?" My sister asked, as soon as I closed the door. I looked at my sister who was sitting on the couch in the living room. "Were you watching me through the window?" I asked, lifting my eyebrows. She shrugged. "I heard a motorcycle, I had to look. I can't believe you rode on a motorcycle." I shake my head at her. "You haven't answered my question. Who is he?" "He is just a boy who drove me home. No biggie." I said waving her off. "Well, he's cute." she said wriggling her eyebrows. "Really? I didn't notice." I said as I turned in the direction of the stairs. "Sure you didn't." I heard my sister say under her breath as I ascended the stairs.
