Chapter 7 The Blockhead Stirs Up Trouble

"Oh? Who is it?" Ethan's voice was icy. "It's your cousin, the second young master of the Benton family!" "Heh," Ethan sneered, "So it's Tyler Benton." Brevard was curious, "You don't seem surprised at all? He's been abroad for so long, I thought he was going to settle there." "Hmph," Ethan said disdainfully, "The coward couldn't resist anymore. He just returned to the country yesterday and today he couldn't wait to go to the Swains." "Yeah, he actually came to the Swains." Brevard was even more curious, "He must have heard that you married a simpleton, so he wanted to come back and laugh at you. But he should have gone to your house, why did he come here?" "That's obvious, it's all about the 8% of the shares that Kaysen transferred to my wife. He would be pissed if he gave them to a stranger and not to him." "He's really digging his own grave," Brevard rejoiced in his misfortune, "He probably doesn't know that we've almost finished investigating your car accident. Once we find the last witness, this Tyler Benton is done. Before, when he was hiding abroad, domestic law couldn't touch him, but now that he's back, he's basically walking into a trap." "No rush, let's get rid of the mole first." Ethan's voice was filled with coldness, "He's moving so fast, I don't believe there isn't a spy of his in this mansion. Keep an eye on the Swains." "Got it." Brevard hung up the phone and drove the car a bit further, making it easier for him to observe everything in front. Meanwhile, at the entrance of the Swain Group office tower… Yolanda, who was rushing out, suddenly bumped into Tyler Benton. Just now, Yolanda had been scolded in Howard's office and was still angry. She immediately berated Tyler, "Are you blind, don't you have eyes?" Tyler, a certified spoiled brat, had never been insulted like this before. He pushed Yolanda, "I think you're the blind one!" Yolanda didn't recognize Tyler, but Howard recognized him immediately. "Isn't this Mr. Benton? What brings you here?" As he spoke, Howard herded Yolanda forward,"Be quick. Apologize to to Mr. Benton. You were rude as a bear with a sore head, where are your manners?" "Dad!" Yolanda was boiling over, "I just said one thing, didn't you see him push me? This is our turf and you want me to eat humble pie? Have you lost your marbles?" "Pipe down! You've got no respect." Seeing his daughter's defiance, Howard had no choice but to apologize to Tyler himself. Tyler squinted his eyes, "You must be Howard Swain, my cousin's father-in-law?" "Yup, yup, yup," Howard didn't dare ruffle the Bentons' feathers and quickly plastered on a peace-making smile, "That's me." Tyler took another gander at Yolanda, snorting lightly, "So this is my cousin's wife?" He gave her the once-over, stroking his chin, "That's not right. I heard my cousin's wife is a simpleton now! Left with the brains of a kid!" "No, no, no, you've got the wrong person, this is my second chick. The one behind is my eldest, your cousin's wife." As he spoke, Howard nudged forward Vivian Swain, who was munching on candy behind. Vivian had a memory like an elephant and had seen Tyler in the Benton family's info. This guy was the eldest son of the second branch of the Benton family, but because of the first branch's dominance, he was only considered the second young master. However, the guy was nothing more than a blockhead. Besides women, the only thing on his mind was how to monopolize the Benton family's assets. It seemed that Ethan's accident was also somehow connected to him. He was staring at Vivian, his eyes practically bulging out of his head, his face screaming, "Holy cow, she's stunning." His gaze was too blatant, leering to the point of repulsion. Vivian felt her stomach churn under his lewd scrutiny. She recoiled, retreating like a cornered animal behind Howard Swain. "Dad, I'm scared, I don't know this guy," she stammered. At her words, disappointment washed over Tyler 's face. "She's a simpleton! What a waste of a killer face and figure." But that didn't stop him from admiring a pretty face. His face was lit with a scheming smile, his eyes twinkling with mischief, "So, you say your name is Vivian, huh? Such a lovely name. Don't be scared, I'm your husband's younger brother, so essentially your little brother." "No!" Vivian held onto Howard's arm tightly, her stomach churning. "Vivian doesn't have a little brother." With that, she suddenly started screaming, "Ah! Vivian doesn't have a little brother! Vivian's little brother died in our mother's womb. Mother said that the one who hurt my brother will die a horrific death. Even as a ghost, mother will come back for revenge, Ah!" As Vivian screamed like a mad woman, Tyler instantly lost all interest in her. The blood drained from Howard Swain and Fiona Bennett's faces! Because Vivian was right on the money, years back, the pair of them had indeed conspired to kill the unborn baby boy of Howard's ex-wife. Fiona, green with envy, had resorted to some pretty nasty stuff. If there really were ghosts in this world, that woman would be back to settle the score. Hearing the simpleton lay it out like that really put the wind up her! Vivian basked in the sight of the fear written all over them, a feeling of schadenfreude washing over her, but at the same time, her heart ached for her late mother. … Vivian was brought out by Fiona, but now because the agreement was torn up and they had an argument, Fiona was holding a grudge and didn't want to send Vivian back. So, in the end, it was Howard who drove Vivian home. On the way to the Benton family mansion, Howard Swain made a phone call to his brain trust. "Tyler Benton stopped by today, he wanted the 8% shares promised by Kaysen Benton, but I turned him down. I told him the shares are for my daughter's security, but he clearly didn't believe me. I suspect he won't let this go so easily." "Yes, there was a hiccup with the agreement, it was torn up. I need to figure out a way to get my eldest daughter to secure another one from Kaysen." "Really? The previous project was a success? That's great news. This is a real win for me. You've contributed a lot to the Swain family's rise these past couple of years. Of course I hope things continue to improve." Howard hung up the phone, his mood suddenly lifting. Vivian was pretending to sleep, but she had heard every word of the phone conversation. Howard, that heartless man, seemed to be faring pretty well in the business world lately? Huh, Vivian slowly curled up her lips into a smile. But how could this be? Why should Howard Swain have the good life? Over her dead body. It was getting chilly outside, and it was about time for a changing of the guard at the Swain's. It was only fair, she was a Swain, through and through. It was high time she took the reins.
