A sudden gust of wind blew past me the moment I jumped down from the boulder I’d climbed to get a flag from a tree and next thing I knew, the flag was no longer in my hands. I didn’t need to glance in the direction the person had gone to know that it was Blake because it was only Blake who moved that fast.
“You’re off your game today, Katya,” Blake called out from several meters away, a wide grin on his face. On a normal day, seeing him beaming would make me smile too, but today wasn’t a normal day. It hasn’t been a normal day for weeks now. Blake must have picked up on my mood because his smile slipped off and was replaced by a worried expression as he made his way over to me. “Is there a problem?” he asked and I heaved a sigh as I leaned against the boulder I just jumped down from before he placed a hand on my arm.
