KATHERINE. The CMES club had been suspended. That’s the only thing I got from what the dean had been saying to Theo, Blake, Hunter, and Keith for the past twenty minutes in her office while the rest of us were in the waiting room… Well, not all of the members. Lilika had been taken to the clinic along with the other injured students, but unlike then, she couldn’t be healed. She was gone. The fact that someone had died in front of us and there had been nothing we could have done to help slammed into me like a plan of bricks for the nth time since it happened. I still didn’t want to believe that it had happened. The blockers had still been up even though two of them had been about to shut down, so she was supposed to be safe… she was supposed to be alive. I gritted my teeth and hunched over in my seat, hating that the dean had let this happen, before Lenore rubbed my back.
