ALEXIS'S POV
Smiling at him one last time, I turned around, not wanting him to see the tears that I shed in the name of our friendship.
This is exactly how my species treat me. They try to make me believe that I have someone to rely on. That I can trust someone with my secrets and pains, but when I finally let myself free, they abandon me.
It does make me think if things would've been better if I hadn't said anything.
Was I drunk? Obviously, not. I was pretending to be drunk so that I could tell him what is inside my heart under the disguise of being drunken. I know I won’t ever be able to tell him these things face to face if our friendship kept on strengthening, and thus, this was the perfect solution to it.
Leaning on the tree, I took the support of the branch as a sob left my mouth. Covering my mouth with my hands, I tried to ease the sob because someone listening to my wails and cries of helplessness would be the last thing I want, especially if that someone is Balke.
