CHAPTER NINETY SEVEN - The Return of an Old Foe
For now, at least, the outside world could wait. In this moment, suspended between earth and sky, there was only Lucas and Ella, rediscovering the passion that had brought them together in the first place.
As they lay tangled in the sheets afterward, Ella traced lazy patterns on Lucas's chest. "We should probably get dressed soon. We'll be landing in a couple of hours."
Lucas groaned playfully, pulling her closer. "Do we have to? Can't we just stay like this forever?"
Ella laughed, dropping a kiss on his shoulder. "As tempting as that sounds, I think the pilot might have some objections."
With a dramatic sigh, Lucas released her. "I suppose you're right. But let's make a deal - once this auction business is over, we take a real vacation. Just the two of us."
"I'd like that," Ella said softly, a hint of her earlier worry creeping back in. "Lucas, promise me something?"
He propped himself up on an elbow, his expression serious. "Anything."
