CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED TWENTY EIGHT - Sacrifices That Change the Course
Their final day in Hawaii dawned bright and clear. They decided to spend the morning hiking to a nearby waterfall, much to Sophia's delight. As they trekked through the lush rainforest, Ella marveled at her daughter's energy and curiosity. Every new plant or insect was cause for excitement and a barrage of questions.
"Daddy, why are some leaves so big?" Sophia asked, pointing to an enormous fern.
Lucas, ever the patient teacher, launched into an explanation about rainforest ecosystems and the need for plants to catch as much sunlight as possible. Ella listened with a smile, once again struck by what an incredible father he was.
When they finally reached the waterfall, the view took their breath away. The water cascaded down a sheer cliff face, creating a misty rainbow where it hit the pool below.
"It's like magic," Sophia whispered, her eyes wide with wonder.
