CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED TWENTY - The Last Stand for Honor
"This is quite a mess you've got here," he said finally. "Whoever's behind this is no amateur. They've clearly put a lot of thought and resources into framing your husband."
"Can you help us?" Ella asked, trying to keep the desperation out of her voice.
Jack nodded slowly. "I'll do my best. But I need to warn you – this won't be easy. We're dealing with someone who's always a step ahead. We'll need to be careful, methodical."
"Whatever it takes," Ella said firmly. "We need to clear Lucas's name and find out who's really behind this."
Over the next few days, Jack dug into the evidence against Lucas, re-interviewing witnesses and examining crime scene photos. Meanwhile, Ella and Lucas pored over security footage from the various locations where the crimes had taken place.
It was during one of these late-night review sessions that Ella noticed something odd.
