CHAPTER SEVENTY-EIGHT

Pain. That was the first thing Ruby felt when she woke up. Everything hurt. Her head pounded as if rammed with a hammer multiple times. Her joints felt like she had shifted repeatedly without stopping for hours. She slowly opened her eyes. Every inch of her body protested as she raised her stiff body from the bed. Bed? Ruby thought as her eyes ran over the dimly lit room. The room was average-sized and sparsely decorated, with a large bed at the edge, a nightstand at the side, and a chair a few feet away. It looked like it had been a long time since it had been used. A brown cloth covered what Ruby figured to be the vanity, and two doors stood at the far end of the room. Where was she?
