CHAPTER SIXTY-SIX
Ruby felt her breathing quicken at his words. Her wolf raged inside her, oozing out waves of anger she had no choice but to project. Her skin itched with fright and annoyance as Noah's words sank in.
Noah was never the target. It was her. She imagined herself still standing on the balcony, looking out at the driveway. An image of the murder-oriented wolves approaching the mansion—without caution or alarm, knowing she would be alone—crossed her mind. Fear replaced the blood in her veins as she imagined what her fate would have been if Noah wasn't home—if he wasn't so sharp-witted to hear them approach before they began attacking. She would have been dead, burnt alive, along with the mansion, with a silver bullet sitting somewhere in her chest.
