CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE
Ruby stared wide-eyed at Hestia’s heaving form. A victorious smile spread across her face as if she had revealed the biggest discovery ever.
Everything happened all at once. The muttering from the other Elders ceased as the room died down to a pin-drop silence as each of them tensed in uncertainty— glancing at each other warily. The bulky mass of their bodies tightened with tension. Everyone’s eyes widened in shock as they stared from Noah to Hestia and then back to Ruby. Victor, who had successfully picked himself from the cold marble floor, plastered a bloody toothy grin on his face. Noah, who was almost at the bottom of the stairs, teleported back to Ruby’s side—this time, his arm didn’t settle on her waist but grabbed her hand and trapped it in his larger one. She could feel his tenseness, so she opted to run her thumb over his knuckles as a means to sate his tension.
“Making false allegations will get you nowhere, girl,” Linda, who stood by the side with a knowing grin, said.
