Chapter Sixty Four- Regretting Life

Mia was on her best behavior. Mikey had given her a rather lengthy scolding. Mia had stayed silent because she felt guilty and didn’t want Mikey to feel as if she stopped caring  for him. The man was the only family she had after she was released from prison. Her uncle had passed and thanks to the warden, Mia had found a companion in Mikey. He was someone that had prepared her for the harsh reality of the world. The world was a cruel place as it was but it was much much worse after being a convicted felon. Even one that had been thrown in prison when they were innocent. The justice system had failed many people and Mia was just another statistic that was ready to be buried.  Mikey didn’t like that. He had fought hard his whole life. Any person that came to him asking for help, he was ready to lay down his life for them. Lorenzo knew this and was ever grateful for Mikey. The man didn’t know what would have happened if Mia had gotten out of prison only with no Mikey to help.
