Chapter Sixteen- Bombardment
Mia was now married. She had no ring on her finger and no one that she truly had an attachment with. There was no one to have and to hold, in sickness or in health. There was no one to cherish but she was married.
It felt wrong. Mia felt as if she had betrayed some inner sanctity of herself. Mia glanced at her own copy of papers as she rifled through them. Her fingers traced the copy of ink where Mia and Lorenzo had signed their names.
“This is it.”
Mia glanced around from her spot in the garden. She had perched herself on the gazebo where the bench was. A bag was beside her to keep her contract dry. It was a pleasant day. The sky was gloomy and splatters of rain made her feel at peace. The only thing that was missing was a warm cup of hot chocolate to soothe her soul.
Mia absolutely adored winters. It was depressing but the lights and atmosphere made up for it entirely.
