32: Echoes of Betrayal
"Leave my sight!" roared Michael, his voice booming through the luxurious, high-rise office in downtown Crestwood City.
Catherine, her eyes burning with a mix of jealousy and triumph, sneered. "Those children are an abomination, Michael. Lily's deceit cannot be tolerated. They must never be born!"
Michael's face contorted with fury. "You think you can manipulate me, Catherine? These games... they end now!"
Lily rested in a serene, rural cottage that once belonged to her father but was now willed to her, away from the chaos of Crestwood City. She wanted a little more tranquility than what the Everett mansion offered. But that was not to be for long.
Suddenly, Lily's tranquility was shattered by aggressive knocks. She gasped as the door flung open, revealing men in stark black attire.
"Mrs. Everett, you must come with us, immediately. Mr. Everett's orders," they declared, their voices and faces devoid of emotion.
Lily's heart pounded in her chest. "To where? Why?"
