CHAPTER 494: INSUFFICIENT PROVISIONS
Nelly rushed through the front door, her heart pounding with relief and worry. She had just picked up Hannah from daycare, but something wasn't right. As soon as she lifted her daughter into her arms, she felt how shaky and hot Hannah's little body was. Panic set in.
Her mind raced as she sped to the hospital, each minute feeling like an eternity. Hannah whimpered softly, her face flushed and her eyes dull. Nelly could hardly keep the fear from showing on her face as she tried to comfort her daughter, whispering soothing words that did little to calm her nerves.
At the hospital, Dr. Marvel, a kind-faced woman with gentle eyes, examined Hannah with care. Nelly watched anxiously, biting her lip and gripping the edge of her chair until her knuckles turned white.
"She’s malnourished," Dr. Marvel finally said, her voice tinged with concern. "It seems she hasn't been feeding well."
