CHAPTER 480: THE HIGHEST STAKE

Lauretta lay in the pool, her mind calmer than it had been in weeks. She needed a getaway, some sort of escape from all the stress. But since she couldn't do that yet, she'd have to make do with the pool. She slowly pulled herself up and out of it, then sat down on the pool ledge. She looked around, enjoying the beautifully lit expanse of their family house. To an outsider, it would seem like everything was perfect for her, and it was. She had everything but still felt like something was missing, a part of her. She felt hungry for something, like the last piece of a puzzle. She got up and grabbed her towel. The feeling of sadness had been constant for a few days, and… perhaps it had something to do with the fact that she hadn't seen George in a week; he had traveled out of the country for business, and God, she missed him. In the silence of the house and the loneliness of her mind, she could admit that. The urge to call or text him was so great she was basically avoiding her phone. S
