CHAPTER 417: SUCH A GOOD HEART
"Here's my card," Lauretta said, sliding a plastic rectangle across the table toward Maddy. Maddy reached out and took it with a warm smile. "Thanks, Lauretta. I'll be in touch," she promised softly.
Lauretta could tell it was getting late. "Alright, well, it's been lovely meeting you both," she said, her voice hinting at fatigue. "I should really be heading home."
With a wave goodbye to Ryan and Maddy, Lauretta slipped out of the booth and made her way to her car. Exhaustion pulled at her, but a stronger urge thrummed beneath it - the need to see her brother.
Sliding into the driver's seat, she pulled out her phone. A familiar picture filled the screen - Lorenzo's smiling face, his usual goofy grin captured in a still moment. Lauretta stared at it for a beat, a pang of worry twisting in her gut, before pulling up the hospital address she'd received on WhatsApp.
