CHAPTER 289: THE REJECTION
Lauretta's shoulders sagged as she slumped onto her chair, her eyes darted around the room, never settling on one spot. She glanced at her watch, which read twenty minutes past five. The sun was gradually setting along the horizon, and its golden rays could be seen all over the sky.
Seeing it was getting late, she quickly gathered her belongings, picked out a few office documents she would need at home, grabbed her bag, and made her way to the door.
Her phone beeped immediately after she stepped out of the office building. She was reluctant to check it out because her head was pounding deeply. She was on her way to the parking lot when his phone rang.

She felt disturbed suddenly. After a long day at work, she wanted to go home, take some aspirin, and rest. Whoever was calling should have a justifiable reason for calling.
After ages, she finally took her phone out of the bag. The call had already ended
