CHAPTER 161: A DESIRE TO HAVE CHILDREN
Lauretta felt a knot of worry in her stomach as the little boy ran toward her, shouting "Mommy!" His eyes, surrounded by a tangle of curls, looked just like hers. People nearby started whispering, looking between Lauretta and the boy.
She put on a strained smile, kneeling in front of him. "I think you've got the wrong person, sweetie. I'm not your mommy."
The boy's smile faded, and he looked confused. "But you look exactly like her! My dad showed me a picture of the most beautiful woman in the world on his phone, and you're definitely the prettiest here." He tilted his head. "Can't you see? We have the same eyes!"
Lauretta's heart pounded hard. She'd been married to George for three years, and they hadn't talked about having kids. Where did this kid come from? The crowd's stares felt accusing, like little needles poking at her. Ignoring the pounding headache, she spoke up again, more firmly this time.
