CHAPTER 146: KEEPING THE PAST IN THE PAST
As they settled into the evening, Juliana toned it down a bit for Lauretta's sake. Gotta admit, George deserved a pat on the back for that day. Even though she didn't know what Lauretta went through before, the scene in the elevator was off. Juliana suspects foul play.
She chewed on a piece of steak watching them closely. Lauretta was acting nonchalantly Juliana observed. She seemed to be at ease as though this was an everyday thing for her. Juliana fought the urge to roll her eyes at her friend. She returned her gaze to George. Being disgusted by George and being thankful to him are two different things. Yes, he was there for Lauretta but that does not give him the right to try to warm up to her which is why she just had to say her mind where he was concerned.
During dinner, Juliana didn't say anything outrageous either. She rather concentrated on the dinner.
